efface

\ih-FAYS\, transitive verb:
1. To cause to disappear by rubbing out, striking out, etc.; to erase; to render illegible or indiscernible.
2. To destroy, as a mental impression; to wipe out; to eliminate completely.
3. To make (oneself) inconspicuous.

Sentence:
It's always difficult to efface bad memories since we indeed do have a tendency to brood about the bad times.

The above sentence is open to debate[:p]
Here's a thought----------- How about making a controversial sentence and then have a discussion on it too???

Comments:
Can indelible marks be effaced?

Was that an oxymoron?
Or are you asking me?

I dont think indelible marks can be effaced for they are ,well, indelible. And if they could be effaced they wont be indelible right? :-p

But would that statement of yours qualify as an oxymoron or not?

yes that was meant to be oxymoronic.

i feel that nothing in life is permanent hence the sentence. Just trying to make contradictory sentences as SG suggested in his post.

plus are you sg or anonymous?

sg only. too lazy to type name etc
