Bhutto’s assassination
While I shall not abjure coherence in the crap that follows, do not be surprised if you find my writings somewhat histrionic I am not going to disclose my idea here but if you are astute, you will be able to guess it anyway. Anyway, let's get serious and talk about some important stuff.
Benazir Bhutto has passed away and the media has been going berserk. My observation: she was neither an amazon nor tough inside. She was corrupt, she chose to flee the country in order not to face the music at home. She came back only when she saw there was a definite opportunity to rule a nation as big as Pakistan. I m pretty sure in her clandestine conversations with general pervez she must have alluded to her friends in the US on more than one occasion and that was perhaps her way of coming(back) to power. Am I sad that she's dead? The truth is I m certainly not crying at the moment and am still being able to enjoy my days alfresco without fear. I am willing to accept that this view of mine is certainly somewhat myopic but the fact is I am not bothered too much. Only time will tell what fate pak meets in the aftermath of this tragedy. For the time being, I guess pervez's agitprop ventures may suffer setbacks.
My father told me once that whatever is happening in pak right now, can be dated back to times when general yahya or something was in power in Pak. At that time Benazir's dad was a prominent politician and when sheikh mujibur rehman won the free and fair elections, he tried to delay things for him. He put personal aggrandizement over nation's interest which ultimately led to the creation of Bangladesh which of course was made possible by the aegis of India. An adroit politician is adept at tackling all issues without the use of force but in this case a nincompoop was left agape when thousands of sheikh aficionados decided to be masters of their own destiny leading to a bloody war.
However, to draw an analogy between Benazir and her father would not be fair as these are two different individuals we are talking about here. They did however have two things in common: Their affectation for their country was not amenable enough for them to work for the amelioration of their countrymen and secondly both were assassinated.
Jai Hind and happy looking up.

Sublunary
This means something that is between the moon and the earth, essentially: of this earth, terrestrial
"Given a choice between an ascetic existence and that of indulging in sublunary pleasures, I'd prefer the latter, simply because I'm a bad girl. :P"
